The Crepe Vine, Issue #016--, Celebrate the Best of Summer with Crepes!
July 02, 2011

Happy Summer! With the abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables now available, the summer months are the perfect time to enjoy crepes. In this issue, we'll feature a recipe for peach and sour cherry crepes, along with a host of the web's most creative crepes and fillings—from coffee grain crepes to zucchini blossoms!

Sour Cherry and Peach CrepesSour Cherry and Peach Crepes. This unique flavor combination was inspired by a tart that I saw at a local bakery. What I love about this recipe is that there's no need to spend hours making pastry. With this dessert, the delicious filling speaks for itself. Rather, it "sings" for itself.

Congratulations to Rosalie of Burlington, N.C.! She won our May drawing for an advance copy of my upcoming novel, Naked and Hungry.

In the meantime, as a preview, check out my main character's recipe for Blackberry Crepes. We'll be making these at a Special Event at Coffee and Crepes, the Triangle's only full-service creperie based in Cary, N.C. If you're local, please plan to join us.

Is there a connection between crepes and southern writers? We think so! After all, author Pat Conroy is known for his lyrical descriptions of food. He also published a cookbook, which featured his own take on chocolate crepes with bananas, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. Read more.
