Ever find yourself craving fruit in the off season? This satisfying hot fruit compote recipe will satisfy those cravings and more!

Serve this warm and spicy fruit mixture in our festive pistachio crepes for a delicious side dish or impressive dessert.

Top it with lemon zest and sour cream for extra panache!

Ingredients:

  • 1 10-oz. package dried pitted plums
  • 1 7-oz. package dried apricots
  • 1 can of apple pie filling
  • 2 cups of apple juice
  • ⅔  cup of dry sherry
  • ½ cup of golden raisins
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ cup of ground pistachio nuts
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • lemon zest for garnish
  • Recipe for basic crepes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place first 7 ingredients in a shallow baking dish. Stir together to mix. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, mix honey and sour cream. Chill.

After fruit has baked, remove and discard cinnamon stick. Lay first crepe flat on a serving dish. Using a slotted spoon, ladle ½ cup of fruit compote across the center of crepe. Roll up. Top with 1 tbsp of honey-cream mixture and sprinkle with lemon zest and extra pistachios, if desired. Repeat with remaining crepes. Serve immediately.
