Looking for a special crepe pan? Look no farther than your own cabinet. Traditional garden-variety non stick pans make excellent crepe pans. They come in a variety of sizes and are the easiest to use and clean.
Most pot and pan sets include non stick sauté pans in a variety of sizes, including 6-inch (perfect for delivering 4-inch appetizer crepes!), 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch sizes. Because they are often part of a set, they are the most affordable type of crepe pan. My favorite one is my 10" pan, which yields perfectly sized 8-inch crepes every time.
In terms of skill, this pan is the easiest pan to use for beginning crepe cooks. Because of the taller rim, you don't have to worry about spilling the batter during your first swirls! It's also practically fool-proof. Because of its non-stick surface, very little oil, if any, is needed. Important: We do not recommend that you ignite sauce in a non-stick pan because the material used in the non-stick coating may have an unpredictable reaction with fire.
It is the easiest to clean because you can either hand wash it or put in the dishwasher. Avoid using metal utensils with this pan because they can damage the coating. Use utensils made of heat-resistant nylon or silicone instead. Be sure to completely dry it after washing and store in a dust-free area.
