I have 2 favorites: Strawberry Nutella & Caramel Syrup, Walnuts, with Sliced Apples

by Bonnie
(Davis, CA)

I love crepes! I grew up with them and think that dessert crepes are the way to go. My favorites are nutella with sliced strawberries and a sprinkling of powdered sugar on the top. The other favorite is caramel syrup drizzled over chopped walnuts and thinly sliced apples. I slice the apples and heat them in a frying pan until they are soft. Then I put them inside my crepe with the nuts and syrup.

Here is my crepe recipe:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup water
4 eggs (if you only have 2-3 on hand, still do-able)
1/4 cup oil
1-2 tsp vanilla extract (almond also tastes good)

Here is my caramel syrup recipe:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 Tbsp light Karo syrup
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients in a deep pan except vanilla. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and then stir in vanilla.
